Mum-in-law's demise
I stop blogging after first week of September. On the second week of Sep, my mother-in-law passed away suddenly after she fainted at home. The hospital was unable to revive her. It is hard for us to accept the news and until today, I still find it hard to think that she is no longer with us. When we went back to Malaysia, the atmosphere is so different without her because she has been the pillar in the family. Treasure your loves one! You never know when they are going to leave you.
Hair Cut
Ian has been sporting a bob style for a long time till people started calling him a girl. He said he wanted short hair so we brought him to cut.
Papa did not give specific instructions to the hairstylist, just told her to cut his short short and this was what she gave him.....
When Ian got home, I thought the hair cut looks nice but not suitable for boys. So WE brought him back to the hair saloon. The lady laughed & said that she is unaware that Ian is a boy!!

Josh's fall
Josh walked on the bed and had a bad fall. His left eyebrow hit the corner of our bedside table and there was a deep cut. Blood oozed and flowed down his face. I was in shock & could only shout for Papa. We quickly pressed on the cut and dashed him to the nearby Dawson clinic. The GP had a quick look at him and said that he can't help, we have to bring him to the hospital for stitching.
The A&E doctor had a look at him and said that we have two options - normal stitching or stitching via plastic surgery. We opted for the second and Josh was hospitalised for a night. The surgery took place in the morning. At 3am, the doctor came to say that he has to put Josh on a drip. I was helpless and I could only sat outside the procedure room praying in tongue asking for God to cover him and take away his pain. Miraculously, Josh only cried for less than a minute and it was silent. After awhile, they brought him out and he was all fine. At 6.30am, the nurse came and wheeled him to the operating theater. The surgery took place at 7am.
This is the 2nd time I was in an operating theater with Josh, 1st time was when I delivered him via emergency c-sect. It was a cold place and it instills this fear in me. I wouldnt want to be in here again. Josh was quick to sleep when the anesthetist injected the fluid through his blood stream. The whole procedure took 30mins and again, I could only sit outside and pray.
I was relieved when the nurse called me to the operation holding area. I sat beside him waiting for him to wake up and once in awhile, calling his name just to wake him up. The surgery is a success and today, you can hardly see a scar!

Shichida
After seeing Ian's progress, I signed Josh up for the class as well. He attended the first lesson on 3 October 09. Just like Ian when he first started class, Josh was unable to sit through and attention span was short. But it will get better.
Shaine as a flower girl
Papa's cousin, Fei, got married on 18 Oct 09 at the Art House and she requested Shaine to be her flower girl. Shaine is excited at being given this role.

Parents For Life Graduation
After 9 weeks of lessons, we graduated from this parenting class based on Godly principles. It has helped to enrich our parenting skills and it is a lifelong process as parents. It is our commitment to bring up our kids into useful people to the society. One thing is when you are helpless about what to do next, always turn to our Father Almighty. He will show you the way.
Ian's Birthday
Initially, we wanted to throw a birthday party for the boys but work has taken a lot of my time that I did not even plan for it. But I decided to get some cupcakes and bring it to his class so that he could at least celebrate with his classmates.
Capstone's Year End Concert
Shaine has always been very excited about her year end concert and this year, she was even more because she has a role to play. She was to introduce the K2 graduating class and she has been practicing her script at home for a few months. As for Ian, he took it very easy and we have never seen him practicing at home. He said that he knew everything!
It was certainly a joy watching the kids performed on stage. Both of them have grown up! Come 2010, we'll be watching the three of them on stage.

Josh was hospitalised
It has been a tough time for us and we are glad that he is well now. A lot of people have been praying for Josh and our family, we really thank God for His grace and mercy.
12 Nov 09 - Josh developed a fever. Supposed to take him to Dawson Clinic but the appt was full until 10.30pm. By then, he was sleeping so we decided not to go.
13 Nov 09 - Papa brought him to see doc, was given neubiliser and paracetamol. At night, we went for Shaine & Ian's year end school concert, when we got home, the helper said that Josh's fever was very high and he shivered. So she put on socks for him. We gave him the suppository and fever came down.
16 Nov 09 - Papa brought him back to the doc and Josh was given antibiotics.
17 Nov 09 - Fever did not go down and we brought him to see our usual GP at Dawson in the night. He listened to his lungs and said that his right lung has no air entry sound, indicating that there might be some blockage. He suspected pneumonia and told us to take him to the hospital. This is the start of the whole ordeal. We brought him to NUH and he has to go for xray and be admitted.
18 Nov 09 - By the time the xray was done and the admission processed, it was passed midnight. It was Josh's birthday and he has to spend it in NUH ward 62, room 10. Xray showed there was a little bit of fluid in the lung but not so serious. The respiratory consultant, Dr Mahesh, came in the morning to explain how the fluid was collected and the next course of action. At 2pm, Josh was wheeled to the ICU for sedation and the doctor will tap some fluid from his right lung to test the type of bacteria.

19 Nov 09 - By noon, Josh was ok to be in the normal ward and he was put to ward 47, bed 19. They started him on IV antibiotics. Temperature was being taken 2hrly but his temp remained high above 38. This continued and we never see the temperature normalized.
27 Nov 09 - Josh went for CT scan which showed a large right lung abscess and there was only a small amount of fluid. It was impossible to drain because it was thick.
30 Nov 09 - Dr suggested surgery to remove the abscess and Papa decided to seek second opinion. He went to Dr Ngiam, our regular PD at Gleneagles. Dr Ngiam read the medical report and immediately said to go for the op. He also recommended two top surgeons at NUH if we want to seek a 3rd opinion. Papa managed to speak to them and a painful decision was made. Josh was to go for the op.

4 Dec 09 - D-day for surgery at 2pm. It was delayed as the ICU was not available. I took leave to be with him. In the morning, brought him to next block for x'mas carol since he enjoyed it very much.
Josh was changed to op theater gown about 1.30pm, wheeled to OT and Papa went in with him while I waited at the reception praying. It was really very heart pain to see Josh going through the op. PH's aunts and a cousin accompanied me to wait at the OT lounge. I cannot even close my eyes to take a nap because I was anxious for the op to end. We were told that the op was about 3hrs and by 5pm, I got worried and 'man zhang' when I still didnt hear from the nurse.
By 5.30pm, the dr called to inform the op was over. PH & me dashed to meet him and he told us that they have removed 120ml of pus from Josh's right lung. They also cut some infected tissues. Praise the Lord that they do not have to remove his right lung.
When he was wheeled out of the OT, he was not on life support (as we were told before the surgery) because his heart was strong enough. In fact, when he saw us, he sat up. Praise the Lord again. Josh was on epidural to relieve pain and he has two tubes connected to his lung from air & fluid drainage. He asked to be carried but we can't due to all the tubes and wires connections. He was wheeled to ICU for observation.
5 Dec 09 - Josh developed some rashes and his face was swollen. The dr was unable to determine the cause and they suspected it was the blood transfusion. They gave him antihistamine for itch relieve and he was still on his usual antibiotics. Josh was still feverish.
7 Dec 09 - Dr removed the epidural infusion and urine catheter. In the afternoon, he was out of ICU and back to Ward 47.
8 Dec 09 - In the early hours, fever spiked at 40. Dr said Josh's fever was taking longer to go down and the Dr sent Josh for another CT scan to ensure that his lung is ok. Praise the Lord and in the afternoon, Josh's temperature was down to 37. And at night, his temperature did not go any higher.
9 Dec 09 - Praise the Lord once again. For the first time, Josh's temperature did not exceed 37. Few more days of observation to ensure that his fever was totally cleared. However, his chest tubes are still intact because there were still bubbling.
12 Dec 09 - Dunno for whatever reason, the fever came back but thank God, his temperature was back to 36.6 at night.
13 Dec 09 - No fever and the plug for IV was removed.
15 Dec 09 - One tube off the chest. Closer to home sweet home.
18 Dec 09 - Dr said that the other tube can be out too. So if no fever after tubes were out, Josh could be home in a few days times.
20 Dec 09 - Dr came in the morning and said that Josh could go home. He looked at the chest xray again and confirmed that Josh can be home. He said that they have admitted many sick children and Josh was very active and looked well. He does not want Josh to contact any further virus infection. The nurses were so sad hearing that Josh could go home but they were also happy for him. At 3pm, Josh bid farewell to the nurses and doctors.

We were grateful that teacher Cecilia from Children's church mass SMS for the CHCC staff to pray for a successful surgery. Our cell group members, many many friends & relatives who have been keeping Josh and our family in their prayers. Josh has been a strong and courageous boy. He will come out stronger!!
