Today, is Ian's 1st Lunar birthday. Nai-nai has prepared a bowl of mee sua with two hard boiled eggs, mushroom and lots of meat for his breakfast. I told her Ian won't be able to finish and she said to give him a bit of everything. Papa said Ian is westernised already, he needs his cereals for breakfast. After that, nai-nai prayed to the ancestors for Ian to be blessed with good health and fortune.
Nai-nai also said to let him pick one thing out of a few things like ruler, abacus, pen, book and food. This greedy Ian went for the egg first followed by the abacus. Anyway, it's just a belief that they will be fond of the first item they picked. So does that mean Ian is destined to be well fed?
